I thank you all for airing your views. The people of Garissa should critically evaluate the resumes of the politicians that aspires for different political offices in their county. They should not allow vote buying to sway or derail them from choosing the best development conscious persons. Let people of garissa shun those leaders that preach tribalism and nepotism. Elect leaders that are non-corrupt and transparent when discharging public service. May God blesss my brothers and sisters from Garissa and the rest of Kenyans. Bye Wanjala Wachana; Bungoma
i just want to share a one point here, i have seen many of you comments on garissa and it,s current proplem, one has to look or focus on development and changes after peace and security garissa is currently facing major problems from it is own indigenous people last night there were clashes between abudwark tribe and aulyahan tribe which left 2 dead and many others injured due to a plot allocations, the curent mp adan bare duale says in a public gathering shanta abak belongs to certain tribe while thika belongs to certain tribe and garissa belongs to it,s people what does that mean can any one put that into a clear demonstration, according to my own opinion that is a xenophobic speech that can create hetred among garissan people, my point is garissa is a cosmopolitan city that hubs many diffrent ethnicity and that is what make a city to develop, so lets bulid our community from the grass root make them understand what living together is all about, thanks for everybody who participated on this programs wish u good lack guys
we cannot go as gsa residents unless we keep aside tribal issues and bribes from politicians during elections
Hi all good people of Gsa,
I can confidently say that Garissa has no owners only a bunch of politicians acting with impunity and no system to check it.
Whayt can a sensible person of modern age say about this town which is a paradox in the midst of plenty? Look at our roads, our state of the town(dirty), youth- no opportunities and drugs, education- pathetic, health(everyone for himself and God for us all), LATF funds- it goes to bottomless pit, CDF- i cant comment,social cohesion and harmony(non-existent), economic devt- poor.
What then do we need to do?
I suggest we stop comercializing politics in the county. Of late its who can marshal a campaign machinery and has a war chest to mount campiagns. Can we say no to such political games and think and agree on who can provide good leadership. Am sure we can look for the right candidate and agree and vote enmass. Thsis is the way forward. Thanks

aslam alkum all garissans,i m so glad today we a share our concerns about feature of our peaple and garissa at large.i visted garissa resently when there was very highten tention of clashes .lets learn aleason from what happen in the past years and not repeating again the somemistake. i was born and bread in garissa i was shorked to be a stranger in my home town but lets call it aprogress .i was saden by the so call young turks who turn coruption to be the way to showcase how fast you can be rich .it is so sad .real sad .the moyer and the dpt moyer what is going on in you minds .do you real & understand this responsibility . i cant judge you but you will face it oneday the almight allah for what you have done you in postion.

Dear muhtarameen,firstly i am glad to see your opinions that encourages the ultimate development and prosperity in our county,it’s these kind of mentality that will take us forward.now we should all remember that our way forward is to elect competent individuals to take the offices regardless of the position, be it Governor and his deputy as well as regional office bearers.we need people who are qualified in their field of work. my recent visit to Kenya i found that a Councillor that can not write even letter,do we really expect someone like that to involve in infrastructure development which needs high level of implementation, and control. a salaam aleykum,i wish to express my heart felt greetings to all Muslim brothers and sisters who cares and have in depth concern as well as interest for people of garissa county to think broadly on issues of leadership position.we must seriously look at the person who is to represent us at all level of leadership position and in doing so we are focusing on our future destiny,so us to be cautious on regrets.Time is precious and the power is at our hands and let not anybody cheat us.finally the choice is on us,do we observe the following qualities or else what do u think,
person who is GOD fearing,has high quality standard of leadership as described by ALLAH(S.W).
Assalama aleykum my fellow garissa county members. i agree we have a big problem. we were very ambitious that we elected young leaders to manage our affairs dujis constituency in particular. let me start with the municipal council. what is the essence of having a council..to provide essential services like town planning, cleaning..managing essential services like education, health, fire fighting services. does our council carry out any of this services? i believe your answer as mine will be in the negative. the council has totally failed in its mandate. what has replaced this essential mandate..collecting taxes and sharing among themselves…selling trust land to the highest bidder..looting public funds i.e latf. what do we need to do…take some action..petition the minister for local government to send in auditors…and proper staff to oversee a new transition to a functional council. ask KACCA to send in investigators to see how resources including land was managed for the last 10 years…so lets start the ball rolling. some action please no rhetoric..
for the parliamentary seat another big disappointment.. Duale has turned to be the worst dictator..you disagree with him you go to jail..do our people deserve this at this age in time? another writer above has capture the misuse of CDF fund very well i agree with him and don’t want to belabour the point.
WE NOW HAVE ANOTHER GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY AN EXPANDED COUNTY WITH GOOD RESOURCE BASE THE GARISSA COUNTY..WE NEED TO GET IT RIGHT FROM THE START..PLEASE DONT ELECT SOMEONE AS GOVERNOR BECAUSE HE IS YOUR FRIEND OR RELATIVE LET US SEE THE BIG PICTURE. LET US MAKE THIS COUNTY THE BEST FOR THE NORTHERNERS AND KENYANS TO EMULATE..LET US ELECT PERSONS OF INTEGRITY AND HONESTY. WE PRAY TO THE ALMIGHTY TO GUIDE OUR ACTIONS TOWARDS THIS ENDEAVOR..AMEEN.
I am very glad that I left garissa, because I have a better life in America. I have never dream going to college in GSA but today i graduated primary and high school here in Denver and starting four year university. I heard many negative things about GSA, like it hasn’t developed yet:( very disappointing. Please stand up for the seek of the town and do something about it. I am hoping I will study political and do something for my fellow people.
I am pleased with Mr. Yare concern and opinion regarding Garissa City Council. The need to care for the poor is always the recognition of humanity in general. Garisa is big and beautiful town but lack of planning and proper waste management is making it dirty and unsuitable to be the headquater of North Eastern Province. As the saying goes, the first impression last and for us to attract investors and greater development in the region, we must clean up our house and create conducive and inviting environment for our city. Having said this does not mean to clean up the poor out of their shacks and mini-mira stand without a plan for relocation. There should be a way to consilidate the mira centers without affecting the mira sellers and same goes for the charcoal dealers and the farmers market.

am very much disappointed with the young coucilors from Garissa, is it that they so hungry to the extent they do not mind the welfare of our people?to make the matter worse Gabow and his deputy jepordise the whole G town, the recent survey carried our one of the municipal partners shows that Garissa twn as one of the diertiest twn in the coutry.and where is area mp? surely there is a leadership crisis in G twn. lets meet 2012 and you wil see dust.
i would like to know the current mp for dujis constituency that he said to his electorate he was not elected by his people he was elected by foreiners and who are this people put him there.

THIS CULTURE HAS EVEN INFILTURATED OUR FAMILIES WHERE PARENTS RESPECT SONS AND DAUGHTERS WHO HAVE MASSED ALOT OF WEALTH(BE IT BE HALAL OR HARAM)WAYS .IF U TRY TO EXPLAIN SO AND SO GOT HIS WELATH UNLAWFULLY,THEY WILL KIND OF SAY(NAAS BATAHTHEY WUSHAGESSTEY SHAGESYSO).

YES HAJI WHEN WE HAVE ELECTED YOUTH TO REPRESENT US IN GARISSA COUNTY COUNCIL,WE THOUGH THEY WOULD UTILISE THERE ENERGY AND LAST BREATH TO BRING GARISSA TOWN WHERE IT DESRVES IN THE NATIONL MAP OF KENYA.BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE YOUTH HAVE THERE SKILLS TO IN RICH THEMSELVES.HOW CAN YOU JUSTIFY A MAYOR AND DUBUTY MAYOR WHO EARN LESS THAN 100000 TO BUILD A HOUSE WORTH 6M.EVEN MZEE ANDUFYAREE AND BOOR WHO WERE VETERAN COUNCILLORS COULD NOT MASS THAT KIND OF WEALTH.SO WE NEED TO SEND KACC TO COUNTY COUNCIL OF GARISSA AND INVESTIGATE THIS MATTERS.
ONE MORE THING I WOULD LIKE KACC TO INVESTIGATE IS WHY IS THAT CDF CONTRACT IS GIVEN TO THE CRONIES OF THE CURRENT SITTING MP,AND WHY IS THAT ONCE GIVEN CONTRACT YOU ARE FORCED TO BUY THE BUILDING MATERIALS FROM DUAL HARDWARE?

I currently live in Texas, US and left Garissa ten years ago.I was born and raised in Garisaa and love it so much. I have heard a lot of changes -most of this which were developments, but when I saw an infected perosn with AIDS on NFD online.net, I was disappointed and astonished! It was not common back then.Also, I wanted to say something about city council’s town management.I know the community is doing good work and I am happy with it and i say to you keep the good work up.However, we need Garissa city council to wake up and do something about the scattered garbages around the town.It looks the council failed to perform their duties.The city council has to remember, Garissa is provincial headquater.The mayor must be honest about his duties and improve the streets of the town.Waging war against needy miraa sellers, which recently happened, is not a good place to start.We should be very careful when dealing with poor families.Mayor must feel responsible and formulate an effective plan for their resettlement and move miraa sellers to a designated area so that they can continue on with their life.I think dismantling their shops,saying we want to improve the town image, and leaving them helpless, is not a solution.Before the city council takes an action they have to think about it very seriously.Putting the lives of those who elected them into the office in jeopady is very disturbing.I urge the Garissa city council to improve current situation of the town, while utilising good management measures and should also do it properly and responsibly.Again, Garisaa city council must have a plan for poor miraa sellers, whether it be purchasing a land for them or moving them to another place. A leader should be caring,even our beloved prophet used to care for his ummah.Please ,whoever operates this website, if you can forward this message to Garissa mayor, i will gladly appreciate.The City council do not have even website where one could post his or her opinion. I have googled multiple times on the internet, just to find it, but could not succeed. Thank you so much.
